R&D and Innovation within the RHU Digital Urology 3D Programme at Bordeaux University Hospital Centre, in collaboration with Bordeaux I.CaRe and SURGAR – 21/02/25

Two days of intensive real-world testing were held to advance image-guided, augmented reality and robot-assisted kidney surgery, led by the Department of Urology at Bordeaux University Hospital Centre Bordeaux University, with Prof. Jean-Christophe BERNHARD and Dr Gaëlle Margue

These sessions enabled the optimisation and fine-tuning of the augmented reality software co-developed with SURGAR, a pioneering French start-up in the field.

The software provides real-time 3D visualisation, automatically synchronised with the patient’s kidney, with the goal of enhancing the precision and safety of surgical procedures.

Together with SURGAR, we continue to pursue our ambition of demonstrating both the technical feasibility and clinical value of augmented reality in surgery.

This programme is supported by government grant under the France 2030 initiative, as part of the third Investment Plan (ref. ANR-21-RHUS-0015), managed by the French National Research Agency (ANR).

We are proud to contribute to shaping the future of surgery through the power of 3D technologies.

👏 Our deepest thanks go to all the teams for their valuable contributions.
