Three Questions for Prof. Jean-Christophe Bernhard on Advances in the Fight Against Kidney Cancer

In an interview with the French Hospital Federation – Oncology (FHF Cancer), Prof. Jean-Christophe Bernhard  shared recent progress in the fight to control kidney cancer.

As coordinator of UroCCR, the French multidisciplinary kidney cancer research network, and with the support of institutions such as  the French National Cancer Institute (INCa), the French National Research Agency (ANR), and the French Association of Urology (AFU), Prof. Bernhard has overseen the development of a unique collaborative database  comprising over 10 million data points from 20,000 patients. This resource has enabled the French onco-urology community to launch more than 220 research projects.

Currently, eight prospective clinical trials and  thirty retrospective studies are underway.

Thanks to the I.CaRe Bordeaux programme, major advances have been made in 3D technologiesremote monitoring (UroConnect) and machine learning (UroPredict), all with the aim of personalising care and improving the management of patients with kidney cancer.

With the ongoing involvement of its partners and the UroCCR network centres,  Bordeaux University Hospital Centre, continues to affirm its position as a leader in international clinical research on kidney cancer.
